You can use the Configuration Dialog to change how components of IMPRES Battery Fleet Management communicate with each other. The following table describes each IMPRES Battery Fleet Management component:
| Component | Description |
| Motorola IMPRES Fleet Management Device Service | The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Device Service is a Windows Service that provides the means for computers to communicate with IMPRES devices. It is installed onto your computer when IMPRES Battery Fleet Management is installed and is automatically started each time you reboot your computer |
| Motorola IMPRES Fleet Management Analysis Service | The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Analysis Service is a Windows Service that provides battery analysis services for IMPRES Battery Fleet Management. It is installed onto your computer when IMPRES Battery Fleet Management is installed and is automatically started each time you reboot your computer. The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Analysis Service is also responsible for maintaining all of your battery data |
| Motorola IMPRES Fleet Management Radio Network Service | The Motorola IMPRES Fleet Management Radio Network Service is a Windows Service that provides the means for computers to communicate with the radio system through an IP Data Gateway. It is marked Disable on your computer when IMPRES Battery Fleet Management is installed and is able to Enable through the Configuration Dialog |
| IMPRES Battery Fleet Management | IMPRES Battery Fleet Management communicates with both the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Device Service and the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Analysis Service to provide you with the ability to perform battery analysis and create reports |
| Motorola IMPRES Fleet Management Unified Network Service | The Motorola IMPRES Fleet Management Unified Network Service is a Windows Service that provides the means for computers to communicate with the UNS system through internet. It is marked Disable on your computer when IMPRES Battery Fleet Management is installed and is able to Enable through the Configuration Dialog |
The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Device Service and the Motorola Fleet Management Analysis Service do not have to reside on the same computer. One computer can be attached to IMPRES devices and another can be used to maintain the battery data and provide analysis services. In this scenario, the first computer running the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Device Service would communicate with the second computer running the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Analysis Service through your computer network. The two computers communicate through a communications protocol called TCP. In order to communicate using TCP, the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the communication port of the computer running Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Analysis Service (also called the Server) as well as the port number must be specified. The URL is supplied in the Server Address textbox on the Client tab of the Configuration Dialog on the computer that is running the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Device Service (also called the Client). The port number of the Server Port text box in the Server tab of the Configuration Dialog must be the same number as all of the Client port numbers. The default port number is 58041.
If you change the URL or the port number on either the Client or Server tabs of the Configuration Dialog, IMPRES Battery Fleet Management will automatically restart both the Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Analysis Service and the Motorola Fleet Management Device Service on your computer. It will also automatically restart IMPRES Battery Fleet Management to reconnect your computer to the services.
The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Radio Network Service can reside on the Server or Clients. The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Radio Network Service must be marked Enable in order to communicate through the radio system via an IP Data Gateway, either MNIS or a control station. The IP Data Gateway must have a unique radio ID on the system. If there is a UDP Port conflict on the computer, the IP data gateway (either MNIS or a control station) can be configured with a different UDP Port.

The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Unified Network Service can reside on the Server or Clients. The Motorola IMPRES Battery Fleet Management Unified Network Service must be marked Enable in order to communicate through the UNS system via internet.
